Are you ready to take control of your life too?

Welcome new subscribers! Thank you for being a part of this super cool community who values both success and, my favorite… inner peace. Ahhhhh!

It’s hard to believe lockdowns began 6 1/2 months ago, when distance learning and hunkering in became a new normal for millions. After our mostly stay-at-home summer, no one expected round two of distance learning. Yet, here we are, wrapping up 6 weeks of 3rd grade via Zoom.

But all of that is about to change…. AGAIN. At least for now.

Tomorrow, my twins go back to in-person school. It’s surreal and bittersweet. No more snagging hugs on the fly. No more eavesdropping in on class or jumping in to help. No more sleeping in an extra 45 minutes. While the interruptions drive me beyond bonkers, I love having my children in my home nearby.

So I’m savoring these final few days as we embark upon yet another “new normal” phase. Here are my kids on a quick 5 minute break playing with their remote control amphibious car/boat in the pool.

But, as with most things, there are trade-offs. Earlier to rise, embracing the morning shuffle and shuttle to school will give my kiddos time craved with friends and other humans, valuable in-person learning and a wider array of engaging activities. Soooooo needed!

And, I’m excited to have big chunks of time back to tackle to-do’s, create life-transforming programs and elevate inner peace in the world.

I wish it were as simple as having kids back in school, for life as we all knew it to return to “normal.” Ha!!!

While it is a step in the right direction, Covid times aren’t yet over. And, our world keeps testing us with wild fires, hurricanes, riots and another heated election. Plus, personal challenges like divorce, career changes, illness, caring for a family member and new uncertainties are effective and yanking even the most grounded, off our center.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could wave the magic wand and life instantly settle into a fabulous upgraded version of normal?

* How about a brilliant new version of normal that truly excites and delights you?

* Or a new normal where you were even more grounded, confident and happy than ever before?

* And a new normal where your inner world was not a direct reflection of the chaos in the outer world?

Ahhhhhhh!

I’ve got another powerful new program that I’ll be opening up toward the end of October… called “Radical Reset: Claim inner peace as your new normal in pandemic times and long beyond.”

And, to give you a jumpstart on your reset, I’ve got a new Rapid Reset Video for you about how to take control of our lives again, starting now.

Taking control of life.

There are lots of big and little strategies I lean into to help myself periodically reset, and re-establish inner peace. One of my go-to’s is identifying and clearing “tolerations.”

What’s a toleration?

Tolerations are those tasky items you’ve been putting off or putting up with that zap your energy and inner peace. A cluttered closet or drawer, the cracked cover on your SmartPhone, or procrastinating on making a doctor’s appointment are all examples of tolerations.

Some “tolerations” are small and can be handled quickly, but get set aside because they’re not urgent. Procrastination is the breeding ground of “tolerations.” There is also a time component to tolerations. The longer a “pesky little task” is “not handled,” the more energy and inner peace is drained.

Anytime I’ve been heads down on a project, away on vacation or otherwise consumed with life (aka – kids home non-stop for 6+ months), simple to-do’s like these accumulate, fuel overwhelm and siphon off valuable mojo and inner peace.

Today’s Rapid Reset Video is about “Tackling Tasky Tolerations.” (And I’m thrilled this is my FIRST Rapid Reset Video with subtitles, for my hearing impaired folks out there. You asked, I listened 🙂

Rapid Reset Video #13
Tackling Tasky Tolerations

Tolerations come in all shapes and sizes. Writing them down on a list is the first step in addressing these inner peace vampires and freeing up precious energy.

To jumpstart your reset, take inventory of these 4 types of “tolerations.” A fresh list may be just the catalyst you need to start tackling them – one at a time.

I’ve included examples below to help you pull your list together.

1. Clutter, Cleanliness and Organization is a big one! Take a look at the piles of papers on your desk, overstuffed closets, messy drawers, refrigerator, dirty car (inside or outside), messy garage, etc. Where’s the clutter? Write these down.

2. What needs fixing? Are all your electronics working? Cell phone, computer? Lighting in office? Button missing from favorite shirt? Shoes needing polish? Scan your office and home environment? What’s broken or needs mending? Add these to your list.

3. Maintenance Items. Oil changed in car, dental or doctor appointments, light bulb replaced, clothes to dry cleaner, AC or heat serviced, battery replaced in phone or clock, schedule haircut, etc.

4. Lingering To-Do’s. Thank you notes to send, shopping for ???, arranging for dog-sitter, purchasing a gift, outreach to a friend or family member.

There are four main categories of simple tasky tolerations to concentrate on for your Rapid Reset. If you want to be extra thorough, there are 5 additional categories in this blog post. And on that post, you can download a PDF worksheet to list your tolerations.

Before you pull out your notepad and start writing, please know it’s not about handling ALL of your tolerations at once.

Here’s your invitation.

1. Brainstorm all the “tasky tolerations” weighing you down. Walk around your house. Be as thorough as possible. Write them all down.

2. Select 2-5 “tasky tolerations” to tackle THIS week. Look over your list. Allow yourself to be guided to the one or two “tolerations” that would give you the most relief and help you jumpstart your reset.

Remember, it’s not about handling all “tolerations” TODAY. Focus on the top 1-5 each week. Progress happens over time. Your “Tolerations List” should free you up, not bog you down.

The Power of Naming Tolerations

It was just last Friday when I filmed today’s Rapid Reset Video about “Tackling Tasky Tolerations.” Naming my biggest tolerations aloud on the video, for all the world to hear, was a little embarrassing…especially since many of the tasks I mentioned have been on my list for months.

But, here’s what happened.

Just by telling you about my oh, so many cluttered closets and messy garage lit a fire under my tooshie. The very next day, I found myself tackling the hall closet, my master closet and both of my children’s closets in just a few hours! I purged, organized and sorted through it all. And voila!

Then Saturday, my husband and I tackled the garage, which was long overdue for attention… and we did it again. And on Monday? Yep, I was ultra focused on tackling more lingering to-do’s, getting thank you notes mailed, a hotel booked and more.

This is the power of naming your “tasky tolerations” and writing them down. Every time I put concentrated energy on naming “tolerations,” inspiration kicks in and I’m rewarded with an upgrade in my inner peace.

Gift yourself with this exercise, and allow yourself to get into inspired action too. Why wait til the end of the month to move one step closer to claiming inner peace as your new normal. Go for it!

Until the next time…

Here’s to your success and inner peace.
