There are so many things that influence our inner peace or lack there of. Today, I’m scratching the surface on two that go hand in hand… sharing our gifts with the world and the energetic exchange of money.
Whether you’re a coach, consultant, in sales or business owner or not, we’ve all stopped short of letting the world know about the valuable gifts we offer… and then receiving money. Perhaps you’ll be inspired my these budding entrepreneurs.
For the past several weeks, my 8 year old daughter Shanti and her friend have been talking nonstop about their new dog training business. They created fliers and even put one in our elderly neighbors mailbox. It didn’t matter to them that they didn’t have any experience training dogs 🙂 But it started a conversation about who would need their services and why they should be hired.
Fast forward to this weekend. The girls finally had their first-ever play date outside of school. It didn’t take long for them to ask about setting up a lemonade stand. Alas, no lemonade at my house. But we had a fresh batch of homemade frosted Valentine cookies.
They carefully selected 12 cookies and put them in individual baggies. They decided on pricing and made signs. We gathered coins for change. They walked out a table and chairs curbside…. and were ALL IN!
Before I joined them, my son Riser reported their first $4 sale! My heart melted at the support they received. Neighbors rallied. 6 customers! Woot!!! They bought 1-3 cookies each. These girls screamed, “Homemade Cookies for Sale” countless times… even while jumping on pogo sticks! Riser helped marketing from his bike and roller skates… earning a whopping $1.25 in commissions.
The girls each made $3.25 for their efforts. Mama entrepreneur couldn’t be more proud… or inspired by how “all in” they were! They shouted full-heartedly when zero people were around. I LOVED their entrepreneurial spirit!!!
And I have to admit, I was impacted by how unabashedly they promoted their “cookie sale” to every human walking or driving on our mostly quiet street. It caught people’s attention. Every person was a potential sale. Even when someone didn’t stop or politely said, “No thank you” they kept going!
It has me thinking about how I often hold back in enthusiastically bringing attention to the valuable resources and programs that can impact people’s lives. Whether they are free or with a price tag. Like many, I don’t want to “bug” people. Yet, I know how grateful I am when effective marketing connects me to a service or product that positively impacts my life.
Sharing our “gifts” with the world contributes to our inner peace. Receiving the energetic exchange of money is also important… both as a way of validating our gifts and “worthy and deservingness,” but also in practical terms. Money is one of the realities of our world, and when cash is tight, it’s an inner peace zapper.
We often resist that which we wish to receive, and it doesn’t serve anyone. There it is again… resistance, the enemy of inner peace.
