Co-Active Coaching: New Skills for Coaching People Toward Success in Work and Life, Laura Whitworth, Henry Kimsey-House, and Phil Sandahl, 1998. The founders of CTI share the explicit elements of their exemplary and effective coaching model. This is the handbook for coaching for the new millenium. A tremendous resource for anyone desiring more knowledge and awareness of coaching.
The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) The premier Professional Coaching school for individuals seeking training in "co-active coaching" skills for business or management, and for individuals seeking a career in coaching. Curriculum involves weekend classroom training combined with teleclasses. I highly recommend the "CCC - The Co-Active Coaching Course" for EVERYONE. This course will give you a solid foundation of coaching skills in one weekend. I wish everyone could take it, whether they become a coach or not. The core focus of CTI is to create more fulfillment, more balance and a stronger process for life. The four cornerstones of Co-Active Coaching include: 1) The client is naturally creative, resourceful and whole. 2) Co-Active coaching addresses the client's whole life. 3) The agenda comes from the client. 4) The relationship is a designed alliance. I received my foundational training and coaching certification through CTI, and am proud to be a graduate of CTI. For courses and schedules, see www.thecoaches.com. I also highly recommend CTI's Leadership Course, a year-long exploration of Creating Co-Actively. You'll experientially learn to "Create from Self", to "Create with Other", to "Create from Nothing" and to "Create from Everything". Through ropes courses, enneagram typing, and weekly group calls - this experience takes leadership, authenticity and discovery to another level. WOW!
Coach University I'm continuing my coaching training, or "graduate" training, from CoachUniversity (CoachU). 36 module teleclasses providing more support structures to enhance any coach's practice. Numerous programs and assessments to guide and direct your clients. I highly recommend the Personal Foundation Teleclass for non-coaches and coaches alike. A wealth of information. www.coachu.com The International Coach Federation The governing body of Personal, Professional and Corporate Coaches. The next annual conference is in Vancouver, BC, October 26-28th. If you're interested in exploring the possibilities of coaching as a career for yourself, this is a must attend event. You'll receive a wide variety of training, learn about this evolving and exciting industry, and meet coaches from across the world. This was the event where I decided to become a coach. www.coachfederation.org
