With Halloween coming up this weekend … I thought we can all remember our PLAYFULNESS for more fun and peace!
When you think of the word playfulness, what images come to your mind? As we step out of childhood and mature, the emotion of “playfulness” can become a foreign concept to our nervous system. However, it’s never too late to reclaim this emotion, and its ripple affect creates magic.

The dictionary definition:
• Full of fun and high spirits; frolicsome or sportive.
• Humorous; jesting.
• A disposition to find (or make) causes for amusement.
• A festive merry feeling.
• Activities that are enjoyable or amusing.
Whether you are in a business meeting, visiting with friends or working on a creative project, “playfulness” adds a fun, light, and new dimension. Imagine yourself “playfully” engaging in conversation with the grocery store clerk, or “playfully” singing along to the music in your car. How about a little “playfulness” in the bedroom with your partner? How may your children, parents or co-workers respond to playfulness?
Playfulness creates motion and brings a smile. One of my most successful clients brings in playfulness to business meetings when they get too serious, and it brings out the humanity in everyone. In a world where stress and anxiety is commonplace, a little “playfulness” may be the perfect medicine. Adopt it for a week, and see what you experience.

Fulfillment happens in the present moment. Most people spend their time fretting about the past OR worrying about the future. Do you know anyone like this? We live in a fast-paced world, and the concept of slowing down and appreciating each moment may seem like a waste of time. However, it is in the present moment where you will find FULFILLMENT and joy.
I challenge you to take ONE WEEK and consciously PRACTICE living in the present moment. It’ll change your life. You may even choose to take a whole day of silence. There is so much to notice in the NOW. Colors, shapes, textures, sound, feelings, emotions, beauty, love and all the miracles of life.
When you are with someone, “be with” them fully without thinking about what you’ll say next, or what you’ll do tomorrow. BE present. Listen to their words AND to what is behind the words. What else can you notice when you are present to the moment?
There are numerous places to ”practice” living in the present moment – in your relationships, with your boss or employees, while making love, during a workout, eating a meal, taking a shower, watching a sunset, with your children, and even the clerk at the grocery store.
As you spend more time ”being present” to the NOW, you’ll naturally feel a greater sense of fulfillment.

It’s one thing to know yourself, it’s another to DESIGN your life around what’s important. Start by determining what you LOVE that’s already in your life. There are aspects of your life that are already fulfilling to you - Congratulations! The more activities, people and time that is spent in alignment with your values, the more fulfilled you will be. When you are not in alignment with your values your life won’t flow as easily and you experience struggle, which is not fulfilling.
Select FIVE values and identify 1-3 ways you can honor each value every week, or every day! You’ll find some activities will honor many of your values simultaneously. Integrate these activities into your life. Make room for new activities by eliminating less fulfilling activities and energy drains. This may include spending LESS time with certain people. And soon you’ll be experiencing more and more fulfillment each day.

In preparation for my upcoming Conversations with the Masters with Ken Wilber next week, I wanted to share my thoughts on personal achievement or spiritual evolution. Can you have BOTH? Take charge or let go? Or???
In the world of personal development, there seem to be two distinct camps. Both approaches seem to lead to the same thing — happiness and INNER PEACE. Is one approach, more effective than the other? How can we make sense of the sometimes contradicting approaches?
The Camp of Achievement
First is the goal-oriented, achievement-based, power-filled doctrine. This school of thought tells us to “take charge” of our lives. It tells us, we CAN shape our destiny. We CAN create our own reality. We CAN achieve anything we set our mind to. It’s generally very “me-focused.” Whether it is a Tony Robbins seminar, a motivational book or Donald Trump’s Apprentice, the focus is on doing more. It’s about being the best. It’s about productivity. It’s about material success. It’s about power, taking control and taking action. It’s about MORE, MORE, MORE. Because, after all, MORE will bring you greater happiness. Right?
I personally love setting goals and achieving them. Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to throw away goals or achievement. Think about it, without the world of achievement, we wouldn’t have all the luxuries and staples of our modern world. We have cars, planes, computers, internet, tv’s, Tivos, DVD’s, CD’s, GPS, cell phones, clothing, books, appliances, as well as heating and air conditioning. We can even access 10,000 songs off of a single iPod. There are countless creations you enjoy everyday because someone focused on achieving a goal. Our world continues to thrive and grow because of people and companies committed to achieving.
The Camp of Enlightenment
The other camp is focused on spiritual evolution or enlightenment as its ultimate goal. The teachers of this path focus on the ” here and now.” It’s about embracing reality, as it is, right now. It’s about letting go of resistance. It’s about recognizing the perfection of the moment. It’s about doing nothing. It’s about BEING. It’s about meditation and clearing your thoughts. Of course, many of these thoughts are going gang-busters because we were wanting to pursue our goals and dreams, and they aren’t materializing as quickly as the books promised. The path of enlightenment is more about stripping away the focus of me, me, me and recognizing the “oneness” of the Universe. This path is more about simplifying your life. It’s about doing and having less. Some practices go so far to recommend you discard all material possessions. It’s not about achievement, it’s about letting go of the striving. It’s about being. Byron Katie’s Loving What Is, Eckhart Tolle, Adyashanti and Wayne Dyer all talk predominantly about this camp. Continue reading »

If you’re in the business of “helping others,” then perk up your ears. Last week, I listened intently to the wisdom of my dear friend and colleague Suzanne Evans.
Can I just say how much respect I have for this woman and her accomplishments? You’ll soon learn exactly why…
You see, I asked to her be a Guest Expert for my Beyond Six Figures for Coaches program. Words don’t come close in summing up the impact she had on the group (myself included!).
So instead of trying…I’ve arranged for you to experience Suzanne Evans first hand…for yourself!
Here’s why I’m enthusiastically hosting this call:
From time to time, most of us feel stuck in our business; you might even be there now.
One of the big reasons we get stuck from time to time is a dirty little secret no one is talking about.
